Jake Mason received board-certification as an Estate Planning Law Specialist (EPLS) in April of 2019 by The Estate Law Specialist Board, Inc., an ABA-accredited organization, subsidiary of the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils. He is one of only 25 attorneys in Tennessee, 9 in Middle Tennessee, and the only attorney north of Nashville, to receive this certification.

Jake Mason is the Owner of Heritage Law Group, PLLC, at 1526 Hunt Club Boulevard, Suite 550, in Gallatin, Tennessee. Learn more about Heritage Law Group, PLLC at www.heritagelawtn.com.

Jake grew up in Philpot, Kentucky. He was a National Merit Finalist in high school and also earned a full tuition football scholarship to Vanderbilt University in 1999. Mason graduated cum laude from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in Business and Economics (Economics major) with Departmental Honors in 2003, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology with Departmental Honors in 2010. He received a full-tuition scholarship from Washington & Lee University School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctorate in 2007. He earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Elder Law and Estate Planning from Western New England University School of Law in 2018. Jake became a licensed attorney in Kentucky in 2007, and in Tennessee in 2012, practicing in both states. He is also an Accredited Attorney with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Sumner County Museum. Jake resides in Gallatin, Tennessee, with his wife, local Neurologist, Megan E. Mason, MD, and their two daughters. He enjoys spending time with his family, competing in RAGNAR races, and coaching his daughter’s soccer team.

To become board-certified as an Estate Planning Law Specialist (EPLS), an attorney must have devoted at least one-third of his or her practice to estate planning for a minimum of five years. In addition to passing a comprehensive examination in estate planning law, the attorney must also receive recommendations from five colleagues and must establish that he or she has at least 36 continuing legal education credits within the last three years. The Estate Planning Law Specialist Board, Inc., an attorney-run affiliate of the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils in Cleveland, Ohio, is the only ABA-accredited program for certification of an attorney as an Estate Planning Law Specialist. For more information about the Estate Planning Law Specialist program, see the parent organization’s web site at www.naepc.org.

In addition to continuing his own education, Jake dedicates himself to the community by hosting free educational events, such as the annual Elder Care Expo, and Wills For Heroes. He practices law in the areas of Business Succession Planning, Estate Planning, Elder Law, Probate, and Veterans Benefits.

Mason is also committed to providing local advocacy for those in need by supporting non-profit organizations such as the Sumner County Food Bank with an annual food drive and supporting Salvus Center, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, faith-based primary care health center that serves the working uninsured in Sumner County. The 3rd Annual Elder Care Expo hosted by Heritage Law Group will be held May 23, 2019 in Gallatin, benefiting Salvus Center, Inc.
